A beautiful bowl by the famous ceramist Jean Gerbino made in Vallauris, France. Vallauris has been the pottery making center of France since a Roman times.
Executed in the micro mosaic or clay mosaic style, inspired by the Chinese neriage pottery of the 7th century Tang Dynasty. With multicolored, stylized designs in brown, turquoise, and copper among others. Circa 1950, stamped on the base.
Gerbino made his name in by perfecting his style and his works are much appreciated. He earned France's Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in 1962.
